Pick up any cat item and drop it on an identical one. The pair becomes a single higher-level cat, the mat underneath is freed, and the new item joins your index.

No countdowns. The only pressure is board space, so the game is about the order of your moves rather than reaction speed.

Merge to reclaim room. Auto-sort tidies the board for you, and higher-level cats take the same single mat as a starter kitten, so climbing the chain is also how you clean up.
